First: when to see a doctor

See a doctor or go to the emergency department (SOR) if you heard a pop at the moment of injury, the knee swelled quickly, it feels unstable or locked, you cannot put weight on the leg, or there is deformity. On the mountain, call TOPR at 985 or +48 601 100 300, or 112.

How physiotherapy helps

  • assessment of movement, strength and stability after the injury
  • advice on using crutches, braces and safe loading as recommended by the doctor
  • exercises to help manage swelling and gradually restore movement
  • a clear home exercise plan for your trip home and the following weeks
  • manual therapy and massage for overloaded muscles and back pain

Continuing at home

If you live in the region, we can continue the full rehabilitation programme. Visitors receive a written plan to continue with a physiotherapist at home. More details in Polish: rehabilitacja kolana.

Questions and answers

Can I continue skiing after a knee sprain if the pain is mild?

It is not recommended. Mild pain does not rule out a ligament injury, and skiing on an unstable knee can make it worse.

Can you see me at my hotel in Zakopane?

Yes, an initial physiotherapy assessment can take place at your accommodation. Serious injuries must first be assessed by a doctor.
